The Betrothal of Saint Ursula, c.1895, Tempera colors, gold leaf, and ink on 16th century parchment

The identity of the "Spanish Forger" remains obstinately shrouded in Mystery, although his amazing body of work is demonstrable, at least 100 years old. There can be little doubt that he was a Parisian (Originally thought to be Spanish), and his Illuminations were obviously designed to pander to wealthy tourist on The Grand Tour. The Spanish Forger has been placed in the Illumination Gallery because of the artistic genre.
