Doménikos Theotokópoulos known as El Greco was born in the Venetian territory of Crete, he began artistically as an Icon painter, and in 1570 he moves to Venice and became a disciple of Veronese and Titian. El Greco also worked for a time in Rome, but then in 1576, he journeyed to Toledo, Spain where he became the leading force of the Spanish Renaissance.
