Born in Yorkshire, British artist Abbey Altson was a practitioner of Classicism and was greatly influenced by the brilliant Lord Leighton and Alma Tadema. Alston traveled to Australia in the early 1880s, winning several Gold Medals there, he returned to London and Paris for further studies.
