Pomeranian artist Paul Kleinschmidt was an Academically-trained Expressionist painter as well as a talented lithographer and etcher. Wounded by a gas attack in WWI, Kleinschmidt fled Nazi Germany for Holland and later France but spent time in camps and was banned from painting by Hitler’s regime. His “Adjustments” is a typical grotesque, and somewhat misanthropic piece by the artist.
