French artist Gustave Dore was a renowned sculptor and illustrator, who made prints with woodcuts far more often than engravings. Dore created works treating a wide variety of subjects, including literature, genre, and mythology. This lovely and haunting work by Dore, “The Neophyte”, was recently remastered by Art Chateau in 2017.
