Romantic painter and portraitist Antonio Maria Esquivel was trained at the Seville Academy. As a young man, disease caused him to lose nearly his entire vision, prompting the artist to attempt suicide. Friends and acquaintances rallied to pay for a treatment that successfully returned Esquivel’s eyesight. Here we see our wonderful Mixed-Media version of this charming gem.
