Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli established an important couture house in Paris in 1927 and became famous for her Surrealist fashions and her bold accessories. In1954 she then closed her Couture House to begin work on her autobiography titled Shocking Life. In 2006, the Acquisition of the Schiaparelli archive and rights led to the 2019 appointment of Daniel Roseberry as Artistic Director of the New Schiaparelli Collection.
