The Czech portraitist Franz Kadlik was greatly influenced by the National Revival in his native Bohemia and to some extent by the Nazarene School artists. Kadlik was Court Painter and enjoyed the patronage of the Czech noble family of Czernin. Our Mixed-Media painting shows the earnest sensibility of the Nazarene school born of Romanticism.
