Jacob de Wit was influenced by the ceiling paintings of Rubens but varied from the master with the incorporation of frilly and whimsical Rococo in his work. Here we see the King of the Gods, Jupiter, who has transfigured himself to appear as Diana, Goddess of the Hunt, then to approach and ravish the nymph Callisto.
