Symbolist painter Julio Romero de Torres was the son of Rafael Barros, an artist and museum curator. Romero’s style fluctuated between Realism and Impressionism over his career, though for subjects nudes and semi-nudes were frequent. Here we see a haunting portrait of a female Flamenco guitar player, in an Impressionistic Moorish courtyard colored with dreamlike hues.
