Gustave Caillebotte was a fairly Realistic painter within the Impressionist School, who was unique and prolific in his work. Caillebotte received academic training as a young man, and never veered toward the abstract pole of Impressionism, perhaps due to an interest in photography. His “Paris Street” is lifelike in perspective and figures, yet painterly in brushstrokes.
