Charles Courtney Curran was an American artist born in Hartford, Kentucky in 1861. While studying at the Académie Julian in Paris Curran perfected his plein air Impressionistic style. Many of his paintings featured attractive young women dressed beautifully in pastel colors. Here, under the brilliant sunshine, we see two lovely day trippers among the Lotis Lilies.
