Australian painter Elioth Gruner painted landscapes and country scenes in a realistic style. Gruner was a Post-Impressionist and very much a traditional artist as well, producing sentimental rural scenes, in no way attempting to be anything but representational in a nineteenth-century, near-photographic manner.
