Self-proclaimed “inventor of the pin-up”, Jean-Gabriel Domergue was a fashion designer as well as an artist. Domergue rendered his softly erotic subjects in a style that was reminiscent of advertising or magazine illustration. Here we see his depiction of French movie star Cécile Aubry, not as big outside the Continent as contemporary Brigitte Bardot.
