Danish artist Carl Heinrich Bloch studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Art and then journeyed to Italy to further his profession. While in route he stopped in Amsterdam and became an ardent admirer of Rembrandt, the works of the Dutch master would influence Bloch all his life. Here we see perhaps the best of Bloch "In a Roman Osteria" A canvas ladened with detail, humanity and a true slice of the eternal city.
