1700 thru 1760

Emerging in the early part of the 18th century in Paris, as an artistic movement which had more playful and artistic themes...as a reaction against the grandeur of the Baroque. Affecting many aspects of the arts including painting, sculpture, architecture and manifesting in a unique style that was ornate and used light colors, asymmetrical designs, curves, and gold ornamentation.
