Lake Como itself is one of the deepest lakes in all of Europe and is the third-largest lake in Italy. The jagged shoreline is dotted with small, colorful villages that welcome visitors with homemade delicacies and quaint lodgings. The Lake Como ferry service is well connected and can help visitors travel the length of the lake to admire all of the small, unique towns that grace the shore. One of the most popular stops for visitors is the villages of Como and Bellagio. Today, Lake Como is still a popular destination for aristocrats and celebrities, with the likes of Madonna, George Clooney, and Richard Branson all visiting or owning a home on its shores.
