La Belle Epoque was built in 1930 as a barge boat used for carrying timber from Burgundy to Paris along the canals of France. It was converted into a hotel barge in the late 1990s. The new barge was then equipped with luxury amenities, including a spa pool, sun deck, hot tub, and dining salon. Today, La Belle Epoque is a relaxing and spacious hotel that offers guests the opportunity to travel through Northern Burgundy in comfort and style. Guests of La Belle Epoque cruise gently along the Canal du Midi, a 300-year-old canal that lies along the shores of the Mediterranean through renowned vineyards and ancient villages.

La Belle Epoque is a 12-passenger boat with six suites, four junior suites, and one single cabin. Each guest room is designed in the style of a French country manor, and it is decorated using dark wood, sophisticated linens, and marble tiles. Each suite has a private bath, small sitting area, reading lamp, closet, and at least one window or porthole. Additionally, all rooms are equipped with air-conditioning and central heating to maximize guest comfort.

La Belle Epoque is an all-inclusive canal cruise that provides guests with three full meals a day. A continental breakfast is served each morning. It includes pastries, cereal, fruit, and yogurt. Lunch is a buffet-style meal that typically includes one hot entrée and a variety of appetizers. Dinner aboard La Belle Epoque is a candlelit, elegant affair, served at the dining table of the wood-paneled salon. Regional cuisine is paired with wine, cheese, and dessert. Thanks to the ambiance and delectable food, guests enjoy a four-course, five-star dining experience each night.

La Belle Epoque hotel barge also houses a comfortable and sophisticated salon located above the guestrooms, where visitors can enjoy complimentary cocktails and wine. The salon is outfitted with a curved sofa, armchairs, and tables. There is also a stereo, and a small library is readily available for guests to enjoy. The salon is inspired by the French Art Nouveau movement, and it's decorated using antiques from the Belle Epoque, a period in French history that is widely considered to be the "golden age" of prosperity because of its abundance of cultural innovation and economic success.

La Belle Epoque is a gentle cruise that takes guests on a historical journey through ancient French canals and waterways. Cruise highlights include private wine tastings at the world-renowned Chablis wine cellars, a visit and guided tour of the village of Flavigny, visits to the location of the film Chocolat, and a tour of the Abbaye de Fontenay, a UNESCO world heritage site. Additionally, as guests cruise along the canals of Northern Burgundy, they're treated to stunning views of the Saussois Cliffs, historical French cliffs, and home to an international climbing center, where many rock climbers visit before ascending the Alps. La Belle Epoque is a hotel barge reminiscent of the golden age in French history, when optimism, peace, and prosperity were at an all-time high. Guests are transported to this era and given a taste of historical French opulence as they travel leisurely along the shore of the Mediterranean.
